Well you came and you gave without taking
I'm not usually one to comment on political affairs, being as I generally know very little about them and care even less.

But Peter Mandleson's return to cabinet is the single most significant event to give me confidence in the government since Blair left.

Incidentally, I have always voted Lib Dem (with Green my second vote in most things and Ken my second vote for mayor) but I'm not sure whether that's because I think I ought to, or because I actually agree with their policies. Embarrassing really; I feel that intelligent people should be interested and engaged in politics. On a local level I'm completely engaged and involved in various issues - on a national level I just don't care. So much for having the internet and information at our fingertips, because I knew more about party politics as a keen ten year old, when you could buy the manifestos in WHSmith and read them cover to cover in lessonsdull moments.

Thank you for noticing :)

Have a good weekend, and I hope I haven't given you an earworm.

I agree - Mandy's return is a major event - he's an extremely able man, and quite a good dancer, too.

Like you I'm not a political animal but this really is an interesting day.

And I agree about the genius post title :D

I agree! Parties need such intelligent and even scheming political operators. I think it is great news for Labour.

I've been impressed with how committed you've shown yourself to be, to issues that happen in your community, and the way you practice practical politics - your writing, getting involved with things, writing letters to organizations who do not address civic needs such as access... and I am sure there are many of the things you do that I'm by no means aware of.

To me, it sounds like you're an intelligent person who _is_ actively engaged with practicing politics on a grass roots level. Not embarrassing at all.

Glad there's someone in cabinet that is actually interesting in some fashon though. That's quite impressive. Is it his track record, or his attitudes that impress you most?
