Very impressed!

A much-missed friend was deeply involved in the CEGB's overhead transmission engineering, although I knew him through his other main interest of DIY radio astronomy.

Then we have something else in common, cos I was on The Sky At Night as a 6th former when they featured my school's radioastronomy group.

I've just read that obituary, he sounds like he was a great person as well as an enthusiastic scientist.

Indeed he was. John and Joan very kindly would allow my long-suffering parents to unload my young teenage self on them for the odd weekend so that I could look through telescopes, play with electronics and TALK ASTRONOMY.
